SUMMARY:Dedication Ceremony for Alson E. McCasland
DESCRIPTION:Join the Denver Police Museum and the Denver Police Department as we honor Police Officer Alson E. McCasland with a dedication ceremony of a memorial marker located where this brave officer is buried.\n  \nOfficer Alson McCasland died in a police motorcycle crash in April 1935\, according to records from the Denver Police Museum. He was buried at Crown Hill Cemetery\, but there is no marker bearing his name. The Denver Police Museum will honor this fallen officer with placement of a headstone on September 7\, 2019. The Museum relies on donations and contributions from officer salaries to cover the cost of headstones for McCasland and others who made the ultimate sacrifice\, but were buried in unmarked graves. A special thank you to Mile High Memorials and the Jeremy Bitner Foundation for the donation of a custom headstone for Officer McCasland. \nRead more about Officer McCasland here.

SUMMARY:Blue Thunder 100 Motorcycle Run to Honor Colorado’s Fallen Officers
DESCRIPTION:In 1962\, President John F. Kennedy declared the Week of May 15 as National Police Week in the United States. The purpose of the Order was to encourage the citizens of country and law enforcement organizations to designate this week to honor those officers who have died in the line of duty. Here in Colorado we have lost over three hundred officers in the line of duty since Colorado became a state in 1876. In Denver\, we have lost over 70 officers since the department was founded in 1859. \n \nFor the second year in a row\, the Denver Police Museum and the Untouchables Motorcycle Club have collaborated to organize the Blue Thunder 100 Motorcycle Run to honor Colorado’s Fallen Officers. This year’s ride is scheduled on Saturday\, May 11 at 9:00am at the Denver Police Academy. Ride will conclude at the Hoffbrau located at 9110 Wadsworth Pkwy\, Westminster\, CO 80021. \nShow your support for Colorado’s fallen officers by donating to the Denver Police Museum’s ongoing Memorial Services. The Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and your gift is a tax deductible contribution. \ncolo
