Sign Dedication Ceremonies for Four Denver Officers

The mission continues…

In the history of the Denver Police Department, there are over 70 officers that have been killed in the line of duty. The Denver Police Law Enforcement Museum, as well as the Denver Police Department and our dedicated sponsors, are committed to having a remembrance sign placed at the location where each officer lost their lives. To date, approximately 16 signs have been placed including recent placements during Police Week activities in May. As September 11th approaches, and we recognize the bravery of our first responders, it seemed like a perfect time to place more signs in honor of the officers and to recognize each families sacrifice.

Staring on September 8th and on subsequent days leading up to September 11th, four signs will be placed and dedicated for Officer Darrell J. Suer, Officer Edward H. Smerdel, Officer Carl Knobbe and Officer Mike Dowd. Each dedication ceremony includes a brief synopsis of the how the event occurred. In addition, some family members will be meeting with criminal justice students at Career Education Center for positive discussion and increase understanding about a law enforcement career. The Denver Police Museum, along with the Denver Police Department and our generous sponsors would like to invite you to attend the sign dedications.
