Denver CO – On June 24, 2022 at 7:00pm the Denver Police Museum, the Denver Black Officers Organization, and the Denver Police Department will host a special vigil honoring the life, legacy, and sacrifice of Fallen Denver Police Officer Celena Hollis on the 10th Anniversary of her line of duty death at Denver’s City Park, just North of the Boat house. (The location where the incident occurred).
On June 24, 2012 Officer Hollis was killed while working off duty for the Jazz in the Park Festival, Hollis is the last Denver Police Officer to be killed in the Line of Duty and the first black woman to lose her life serving the citizens of the City and County of Denver. Friends, family, and fellow officers will attend the vigil to mark this important anniversary.
On Saturday, June 25 a Youth Empowerment Program will be held from 9am to 2pm at Skyland Park located at 3380 Holly St Denver, CO. The Empowerment Program is a free event designed to specifically assist young black girls with opportunities for empowerment with financial and community leadership opportunities. The event is being primarily sponsored by the Denver Black Police Officer Organization with Assistance from the Denver Police Museum, the Denver Police Foundation, and the Denver Police Officer’s Foundation.

Directions off York: turn east on 23rd Avenue. Go past 2300 Steele and take a right at the bus entrance for Denver Museum of Science and Denver Zoo. It will be marked by green sign. Once you take right into lot go straight and take a right at third entrance (there will DPD Museum signs to mark the way) go straight by edge zoo to boat house on left. See photos below
Directions off Colorado Blvd. go west on 23rd Avenue. Turn left at the bus entrance for Denver Museum of Science and zoo. It will be marked by green sign. Once you turn left into the lot go straight and take right at the third entrance (there will be DPD Museum signs to mark the way) go straight by edge zoo to boat house on left.
